Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start a session?
Search for a movie by title, select it from the results, set how many minutes ago it started using the slider, and tap Start Session. The countdown begins from that point.
How does away detection work?
TimeLEFT uses your phone's motion sensor to detect if you've stepped away during a session. If you've been away for a while, we'll offer to adjust your timer when you return. All motion processing happens on your device and is never stored or shared.
Why doesn't the Live Activity appear on my lock screen?
Live Activities require iOS 16.1 or later. Make sure Live Activities are enabled for TimeLEFT in Settings → TimeLEFT → Live Activities. Start a session, then lock your phone — the countdown should appear on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island on supported devices.
Can I pause the timer?
Yes. Tap the pause button during a session to pause, and tap it again to resume. The timer accounts for paused time automatically.
Can I correct the timer if I set the wrong start time?
Yes. During a session, use the Adjust option to correct how many minutes ago the movie started. Your remaining time will update immediately.
What happens if I close the app during a session?
TimeLEFT saves your session state automatically. When you reopen the app, your session resumes from where it left off.
